Thank you for serving CIU for 25 years Dr. Wagner!

“For 25 years, Larry Wagner has been a wise guide for students and colleagues—first as a professor in the undergrad Psychology major and then, after a few years away from CIU, as one of our core faculty members of the graduate Clinical Counseling program.

To use his own phrase, Larry is a “deep processor,” and he can be a man of few words. Those few words, though, are always worth waiting for. In other words, when Larry speaks, “everybody listens.” He thinks deeply about issues, and he cares deeply about those around him. He cares about students, about CIU, about pastors, and about the Church of Jesus Christ. I have personally heard many testimonies from pastors in the Columbia area who have seen Larry as a counselor, and they sing he praises. I don’t believe in pixie dust, but if it’s real, he must have a bag of it in his counseling bag!

Larry has taken on whatever courses and tasks that have come his way with grace and a commitment to excellence, because he wants our graduates to be the best licensed professional counselors they can be.

The title of his book, Help Me Help Others, captures well his passion for equipping compassionate men and women to help others build healthy relationships. Together, he and his wife Sue make a great team who care for and help others with love and respect.” - Dr. Croteau
